Eagle soars at Turffontein

Sean sent out the stoutly bred Eagle Alley to make an impressive winning debut at Turffontein on Thursday afternoon.
As a son of Silvano, and half-brother to G1 Qatar Goodwood Cup runner up Torcedor, Eagle Alley (whose dam is a full-sister to 4 time Gold Cup winner Yeats) did well to overcome greenness over a trip, on paper, short of his best, on a track which is unlikely to have been ideal for him.

Under jockey Lyle Hewitson, the Klawervlei Stud bred colt made up ground strongly late on to win a shade cosily over 1450m, and Eagle Alley looks a potentially smart sort in the making.

Well done to owners Bernard Kantor and Chris Van Kantor, they look to have a nice prospect on their hands!

Racing at Turffontein was abandoned after the third race due to unsafe underfoot conditions.
