Spring Break oh so game
Author: admin
![]() Talented filly Spring Break, who had shown so much promise early in her career, went out to make the running in a graduation plate over 1200m. Despite appearing headed, and beaten, by eventual runner up Thumbs Up, the Avontuur Thoroughbred Farms bred filly fought back gamely and clawed her way back to a just over three-parts of a length score. Spring Break and Thumbs Up were well clear of the third place finisher Midnight Caller, with the latter finishing six lengths off the winner. Owned by Lammerskraal Stud, the well bred Spring Break should make up into a lovely broodmare prospect when she retires, being a Trippi half-sister to G1 winner, and Equus Champion Tempting Fate. One race prior to Spring Break's win, Sean and Lyle Hewitson had scored when promising Willow Magic filly Magical Flight defied top weight to land an FM 88 Handicap over 1500m in dramatic fashion. In contrast to his ride on Spring Break, Lyle bought the Summerhill Stud bred three-year-old with a late run which saw Magical Flight get up in the shadow of the post to win by three-parts of a length. Owned by Messrs Craig Zoghby, MACurrie, CNFrancis, BGGardner, Jarryd Lahoud, AllanFPeters, LarryPogir, Mrs BMA Lahoud & Sean Tarry Racing (Pty)Ltd, Magical Flight (who is from the same family as the yard's top sprinter Mythical Flight) has now won three of her last four starts and is a fine advert for her promising young sire Willow Magic! ![]() |
