Drakenstein Stud's five time G1 winning sire Duke Of Marmalade, whose progeny include the Tarry trained champion Rain In Holland, has been retired from stud duties.
Drakenstein's racing manager Kevin Somerville said of the decision, "."Duke of Marmalade has been retired from the breeding shed on veterinary advice.
He will live out his days at Drakenstein Stud and watch from his paddock his ever growing influence as a broodmare sire around the world.
The Duke is the sire of 7 Grade 1 winners, namely Simple Verse, Rain In Holland, Big Orange, Star Of Seville, Nutan, Sound Of Freedom and Temple Grafin.Itís been a pleasure for all of us at Drakenstein to stand such an icon of the sport."

His Drakenstein Stud bred and owned Rain In Holland was named Equus Champion 2YO Filly for 2020-2021 after she won five of just six starts and ended her campaign with a courageous win in the G1 Thekwini Stakes.
