Author: admin

Klawervlei Stud's exciting young stallion, and champion first crop sire elect, Pomodoro, has an exceptional draft on offer at the 2018 Klawervlei Farm Sale.

Pomodoro has 22 quality yearlings on offer at the sale, with some of his potential stars including

Lot 4 –a colt out of Jet Master’s G3 Acacia Handicap winner Jet Danza

Lot 7 – a filly out of an Elusive Quality half-sister to 2 German 2000 Guineas winners

Lot 30 –a filly out of four time stakes winner Pacific Breeze

Lot 34 –a colt from the same family as legendary sires Danehill and Northern Dancer

Lot 38 –a filly out of a stakes placed daughter of top class sire Commands

Lot 59 –a colt from the same family as successful sires Caesour and Exchange Rate

Lot 62 –a filly from the family of recent Investec Derby second Dee Ex Bee

Lot 70 –a filly from the family of July winning champion Heavy Metal

Lot 89 –a filly whose second dam is a ½ sister to dual Cox Plate winner Fields Of Omagh

Lot 97 –a half-sister to smart stakes performer Letas Bonnet

Lot 102-a colt out of a winning daughter of US champion sire and top broodmare sire Elusive Quality

Lot 123 –a filly from the family of top fillies Just Sensual, Consensual and Tatler

The multiple G1 winning Pomodoro’s first crop includes SA Nursery runner up Cirillo, debut winner Lethal Weapon, brilliant filly Return Flight (a winner of two of three races by nearly 20 lengths!) and Storm Bird Stakes second Royal Italian.

What makes Pomodoro’s start all the more impressive, is that his first mates included mares by such unfashionable stallions as Lake Coniston, Special Preview, Martinelli, Deep Sleep, and Fanatic Dane.

A brilliant winner of the 2012 Vodacom Durban July over Beach Beauty, Pierre Jourdan and Jackson, Pomodoro is a son of seven times champion sire Jet Master and Fillies Guineas winning Broodmare Of The Year Golden Apple.

Responsible for the top weanling sold off the 2018 Cape Mare Sale, Pomodoro had a colt make R300 000 at the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale, with previous yearlings by the July winner making R650 000, R350 000 and R300 000 respectively.

His stud fee remains at R12 000 for 2018.

The 2018 Farm Sale will take place at Klawervlei on June 15th, when proceedings are scheduled to get underway at 17:00
