Safe Harbour sister stars at the Vaal

Two-year-old Saints Alive, a full-sister to the yard’s top class racemare Safe Harbour, broke her maiden in eye catching fashion on Tuesday.
Owned by Chris Van Niekerk, Wehann Smith and Ken Truter, the Elusive Fort filly romped to a facile five length maiden win -despite being hampered by the attentions of a loose horse in the form of Secret Island.

Slightly unlucky in her first two races, Saints Alive made no mistake on Tuesday when providing log-leading rider Lyle Hewitson with yet another victory.

Out of the Rakeen mare Saint Isidore, Saints Alive was bred by the late Jim Antrobus, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Her own sister Safe Harbour was one of the leaders of her generation, and her wins included the 2016 Lanzerac Ready To Run Stakes, where she accounted for subsequent G1 winner Sergeant Hardy.
