Sand Princess wins on debut

Author: admin

The well bred Sand Princess got her racing career off to the best possible start when making a winning debut, in a workriders maiden plate at the Vaal on Tuesday.

Ridden by Joe Gwingwizha, the two-year-old daughter of Crusade was very green in running during the 1200m race but managed to keep going in the closing stages to post a neck victory over fellow first-timer Soul Of Wit.

Bred by the Scott Bros, Sand Princess is a half-sister to the stable’s talented G1 performer Matador Man –who bids to defend his KZN Breeders Million Mile title on Saturday.
Sand Princess races for Gary Tooch, Greg Blank, Jimmy Sarkis and Sean Tarry Racing CC.

She was one of two winners on Tuesday for Sean and his yard, with the Al Adaayit South Africa bred and owned Hafla scoring an eye catching, off the pace win in the eighth race.

The regally bred 3yo (she is a Trippi half-sister to the yard’s SA Derby winner Al Sahem) registered the second win of her career when given a sterling ride from log leading rider Lyle Hewitson to win over 1600m going away.
