Second Request, Saints Alive impress

Author: admin

Sean looks to have a pair of potentially smart 3yo fillies on his hands in the form of Second Request and Saints Alive.

The former, under the urgings of rising star Luke Ferraris, romped home to shed her maiden impressively at Scottsville on Wednesday, while Saints Alive made much of the running to win an assessment plate at the Vaal the following day.

Making just her second official start, having been second previously, Second Request showed her class by running out a 6.25 length winner over 1600m and she looks an exciting prospect. Bred by Klawervlei Stud, the 3yo is a daughter of Klawervlei's exciting sire and European champion Twice Over. Wednesday's winner is out of the stakes placed Kabool mare Duncton Quest.

Second Request, a R260 000 buy from the 2017 CTS Ready To Run Sale, is owned by Chris Van Niekerk, who also owns Saints Alive in partnership with Wehann Smith and Ken Truter.

Bred by the late Jim Antrobus, the filly (an own sister to the stable's Lanzerac Ready To Run Stakes winner Safe Harbour) made it two wins from just five starts when scoring a 1.6 length win in Thursday's 1600m race-winning with the utmost of ease, with her jockey barely having to move a muscle in the saddle.

Saints Alive is by Equus Champion Elusive Fort -who was also the sire of Sean's former stable star Siren's Call.
