Three in a row for Climber

Author: admin

The Tarry yard sent out the superbly bred Wonderous Climber to make it three wins in a row, when he claimed victory in a middle stakes over 2400m at Turffontein on Saturday.
Bred by Highlands, the gelding was given a superb ride by SíManga Khumalo, who timed his challenge to perfection.

Wonderous Climber was settled off the early pace as Tendre set a strong pace up front. The Tarry runner began to cut back the front runnerís advantage with 400m to go, and he hit the front with 200m left to go.

The Dynasty gelding kept going resolutely to score a 1.3 length over Highlander, with the front running Tendre fading into fourth place.

SíManga said after the race, ďAs soon as the gate opened, the guys really made it hot. He was loving the pace, he won quite a nice race.Ē

Owned by Chris Van Niekerk, the four-year-old Wonderous Climber has now won four and he should not stop here.

He is a son of former Broodmare Of The Year Our Table Mountain, whose previous runners include the Tarry trained champion Cloth Of Cloud and G1 Cape Fillies Guineas winner Silver Mountain.
