Redberry makes all

Author: admin

Sean sent out last yearís G1 Jonsson Workwear Garden Province Stakes winner Redberry Lane to score a front running victory at Turffontein on Saturday.
Bred and owned by Lammerskraal Stud, the five-year-old showed huge courageous when making all, under a strong ride from Piere Strydom, to land a pinnacle stakes over 1600m on Saturday.
Despite ducking in over the final stages, Redberry Lane dug down deep to record her fifth career victory at the expense of High Chaparral mare Being Fabulous, with the progressive Tamarina back in third place.

A race review followed after the race, but was eventually overruled and the result was allowed to stand.

The regally bred daughter of Western Winter (she is a full-sister to Cape Guineas winner Solo Traveller), Redberry Lane had excelled last season where her wins included not only the Garden Province Stakes but also the Listed Syringa Handicap.

The Tarry yardís Equus Champion Return Flight, also ridden by Piere, caught the eye on Saturday when finishing second to G1 SA Derby winner Heroís Honour in an assessment plate over 1600m.
The 3yo set out to make all the running and was only run of it late on by her talented, older male rival who had accounted for subsequent G1 Daily News 2000 winner Surcharge and the very smart Noble Secret when landing last seasonís Derby.
