Trip, Green catch the eye at Turffontein

The Tarry yard’s good run of form continued at Turffontein on Tuesday when the stable sent out both Culture Trip and Palace Green to shed their maidens in eye catching fashion.

Pomodoro gelding Culture Trip made a very smart debut on Tuesday when coming from well off the pace to win first time out on the inside track over 1200 metres.
Under jockey Muzi Yeni, the Klawervlei Stud bred 3yo came from the clouds to mow down his rivals and win by a length going away!

Owned by Sean Tarry Racing CC, Culture Trip (who is out of The Sheik mare Floriana) was bred by Klawervlei Stud. He has a half-sister on offer at Sunday’s Cape Yearling Sale by Twice Over.

His stable mate Palace Green, who races for owners Mary Slack and Michael Javett, followed up his good third on debut when breaking his maiden in pleasing fashion over 1700 metres.
Well ridden by Gavin Lerena, Palace Green stormed home down the inside to score a convincing 1.1 length win and he looks set to build on this good maiden win.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the 3yo Twice Over colt is certainly bred to be good –he is a half-brother to the SA Oaks third place getter Royal Utopia, and his dual G3 Yellowwood Handicap winning dam Queen’s Bay is from the same female line as the likes of Danehill and Northern Dancer.
