Trip downs top sprinters

The Tarry yard has been in good form of late, and Sean sent out both Duology and Trip To Heaven to score at Turffontein on Saturday.
Brilliant seven-year-old Trip To Heaven, desperately unlucky not to have had at least one G1 win to his name thus far, showed a welcome return to winning form when powering home to down some high class opposition in a pinnacle stakes over 1000m on Saturday.

Slow away, as is his want, the Highlands bred gelding (winning for a first time over 1000m) relished the sting out of the going on Saturday and ran on strongly to account for last year’s G1 Computaform Sprint winner Attenborough by 1.3 lengths.

Stable mate Exquisite Touch ran a cracking fourth to Trip To Heaven, which was a good run from the Var mare (also bound for the Computaform Sprint) as Exquisite Touch had had to be re-shod at the start, which saw the race face a lengthy delay.

Jockey Lyle Hewitson has built up a wonderful relationship with Trip To Heaven, and he shone aboard the top class gelding on Saturday.
Now a nine-timer winner, Trip To Heaven took his earnings to nearly R2.5 million mark on Saturday winning for owners Chris Van Niekerk, Derek and Lance Michael, and Sean Tarry Racing CC.

Lyle also did well to score aboard Duology (somewhat keen going to post on Saturday), when the pair scored a hard fought win in Saturday’s first race, where Duology shed his maiden over 1400 metres.

As a son of Twice Over, Duology appears to be looking for more ground making his win on Saturday all the more meritorious.

The Klawervlei Stud bred 3yo, a horse who still looks a bit immature, is owned by Bernard Kantor, Braam Van Huyssteen and Chris Van Niekerk.
