Two more for Pomodoro!

Klawervlei Stud’s promising sire, and Sean's first July winner, Pomodoro the Leading First Crop Sire of 2017-2018, had a pair of smart looking winners to his name on Saturday.
The former G1 Vodacom Durban July winner’s first success on Saturday came when his three-year-old son Destruction Boy made much of the running to break his maiden over 1200m at Kenilworth on Saturday.
Under a good ride from Ossie Noach, the gelded Destruction Boy stayed on smartly to score by a length, confirming his smart recent second place finish.
Hailing from the Woodruff yard, the Klawervlei Grooms Trust bred Destruction Boy was his sire’s only runner at Kenilworth on Saturday.

Pomodoro also enjoyed success at Turffontein on Saturday, when his three-year-old son Culture Trip scored a courageous win over 1400m for trainer Sean Tarry and jockey Lyle Hewitson. Now a winner of two of only four starts, the Sean Tarry Racing CC owned Culture Trip is yet to finish out of the money, with the Klawervlei Stud bred gelding having finished behind unbeaten stable mate Al Mutawakel last time out.

Pomodoro, a son of multiple champion sire Jet Master and Broodmare Of The Year Golden Apple, made a big splash with his first crop yielding Equus Champion and multiple G1 winner Return Flight and R4.8 million plus earner Cirillo. The latter will bid to provide Pomodoro with more G1 glory when he lines up in Saturday’s G1 World Sports Betting Champions Cup.

Pomodoro also has some very smart looking two-year-olds to his name this season –with this tally including recent winner Escape To Victory, the stakes placed Bound By Duty and G2 Durban Golden Horseshoe runner up Putontheredlight.
