Succession, Matloob impress

Author: admin

The Tarry yard sent out two eye catching winners at Turffontein on Tuesday, with both Succession and Matloob making positive impression. While neither perhaps beat the strongest of fields, both Succession and Matloob won with considerable ease and there was plenty to like about how they won their respective races.
The regally bred Captain Al colt Succession, who had shown promise at two, got off the mark third time out when making much of the running to score a 3.75 length win over 1160 metres.

Ridden to victory by in-form Raymond Danielson, the Klawervlei Stud bred colt is owned by Chris Van Niekerk.

It was a smart performance from Succession who is bred to enjoy more ground than the 1160m of Tuesday’s race –his half-sister Antonoe won the G1 Longines Just A Game Stakes over a mile at Belmont Park.

The Al Adaayit South African bred and owned four-year-old Matloob also caught the eye on Tuesday when that son of Silvano romped home to a 3.5 length maiden win over 1600 metres.
Ridden to victory by Kabelo Matsunyane, and favourite for the race, Matloob had finished a close up fourth on his only previous start.
