Pomodoro shines in fabulous four-timer

Author: admin

Sean and his team enjoyed a memorable day at Turffontein on Tuesday, when the Tarry yard sent out four eye catching winners.
Pleasingly, three of the four were impressive looking three-year-olds from the second crop of Sean's first July winner Pomodoro.

Pomodoro colt Ballon D'Or made a smart debut when running on to win Tuesday's first race, a maiden plate over 1200m, by a length and a quarter for Sean Tarry Racing CC and jockey Raymond Danielson.

Out of Doowaley mare Terra Marianna, the Klawervlei Stud bred Ballon D'Or was a R140 000 buy from the 2018 Klawervlei Farm Sale.

Pomodoro's second winner on Tuesday was another graduate of last year's Klawervlei Farm Sale, with his daughter Golden Belle making it two wins from as many starts when downing some hard-knocking fillies and mares, under Raymond Danielson, to win a FM 84 handicap over 1450m by nearly two lengths.
Owned, like Pomodoro, by Chris Van Niekerk, Golden Belle did well to beat older and more experienced rivals on just her second start and she looks a really smart filly in the making.

Also bred by Klawervlei, Golden Belle was an R80 000 buy from last year's Farm Sale.

Pomodoro's third winner on Tuesday, from just four runners, came when his Guillaume Stud bred son Westlife got off the mark at just the second time of asking when landing the eighth and final race by half a length.

Also owned by Chris Van Niekerk, the progressive looking Westlife was guided to victory by the inform Raymond Danielson.

Sean also enjoyed success on Tuesday with the talented Zillzaal, who was making his first start as a gelding.

The Al Adaayit bred and owned four-year-old romped home under a well judged ride from Piere Strydom to land a competitive looking graduation plate in fine style (beating stablemate Russian Beat into second), and the son of Silvano looks an intriguing prospect for the season ahead.
Zillzaal, runner up in last season's G1 SA Derby, made all to win by 2.75 lengths -despite not having raced since July
