Spiritofthegroove lifts Ready To Run Cup

Author: admin

The Tarry yard claimed the Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup for a third consecutive year when Sean sent out Spiritofthegroove to win that 1400m feature at Turffontein on Saturday.

Sean had claimed the 2017 race with the ill-fated Big Bear, and doubled up the following year with Vi Va Pi Pa.
The latter, like Spiritofthegroove, is a daughter of Lammerskraal Stud’s G1 winning sire Visionaire –who sired the first three home in the 2019 Ready To Run Cup!

Spiritofthegroove, a R240 000 buy from the 2018 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale, was given a polished ride by Marco Van Rensburg, who bought his mount with a strong late run down the inside before powering clear to score a 2.25 length over paternal half-sister Gaian Glory.

It was a great effort from Spiritofthegroove and her rider, with the pair having to overcome a poor draw of 13 to overcome.

Bred by Tmen Stables, and racing for the Equine Hub SA, Spiritofthegroove had solid form coming into Saturday’s R1 000 000 feature having finished fourth to Vistula in the G2 Joburg Spring F&M Challenge at her penultimate start and she was by some way the highest rated runner in the race.

She was one of two winners on the day for the yard, with Sean also sending out Judpot filly Trapiche to claim Saturday’s third race for owners Messrs Greene and Ralph.

Well done to the team at home, whose ongoing efforts have ensured that the Tarry yard continue to make their presence felt on big days.
