Celtic Sea storms home to Sceptre win

Author: admin

The Antony and Angela Beck owned Celtic Sea showed her class in no uncertain fashion when she romped home to record a facile two and a half length win in the G2 Cartier Sceptre Stakes (1200m) at Kenilworth on Friday afternoon.

Last seasonís Equus Champion 3YO filly, as versatile as she is talented, was given a confident ride by Gavin Lerena, and when Lerena asked the question, the four-year-old daughter of Captain Al put the race to bed with a fluent win.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Celtic Sea has now won eight of her 19 outings, with the filly having now five graded victories to her name.

She had sweated up badly before her last effort when third behind Front And Centre. The filly holds entries for both the G1 Cape Flying Championship and G1 Majorca Stakes on Sun Met day, the first of February.

After the win, Sean was quick to pay tribute to his team in the Cape, headed by Monique Mansour, who have done a sterling job with the Tarry string.
