Willow Magic off the mark

Author: admin

Sean’s former charge, Willow Magic, was responsible for his first winner, when two-year-old Dubawi Princess got off the mark at Turffontein on Saturday.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Dubawi Princess had been second to unbeaten filly Miracle Flight in a juvenile plate for fillies last time out and this form duly saw the filly dispatched as the 9-10 tote favourite for Saturday’s TAB Pays The Full Dividend, No Limits Maiden Juvenile Plate (fillies) (1160m).

Under the inform Luke Ferraris, Dubawi Princess skipped clear of her rivals to register a comprehensive two and a quarter length.

The filly races for Messrs Currie, Francis, Gardner, Lahoud, Peters, Pogir, Zoghby, Mrs Lahoud and Sean Tarry Racing CC.

She is one of just three runners for her exciting sire Willow Magic thus far, with the former Tarry trained star represented by his first two-year-old runners this season.

Willow Magic, one of more than 40 G1 winners sired by Darley’s remarkable Dubawi (also sire of Darley’s sensational young stallion Night Of Thunder), was a top-class and versatile racehorse.

The handsome chestnut, who earned R1 632 725 during his career, won or placed in 14 of 20 outings, with Willow Magic landing both the 2013 G1 SA Nursery (where he beat subsequent G1 Mercury Sprint winner Red Ray by 1.75 lengths) and G2 Dingaans.
