A Tarry fourtimer at Turffontein!

The Tarry yard enjoyed a good afternoon at Turffontein on Saturday, when Sean and his team sent out four individual winners on a day marred by stormy and inclement weather.

The Tarry stable were unlucky not to make it five winners on the day, with the yardís Leading Fast a narrow and unlucky loser of Saturdayís fifth race.

Joe Gwingwizha kicked Saturday off in the best way possible when he rode Chris Van Niekerkís Upcloseandpersonal to shed her maiden in the first race.
Sent off tote favourite, the Captain Al filly had shown plenty of ability at two and was having her first start in nearly a year on Saturday, but her class pulled her through, and the Moutonshoek bred filly duly came out to score by just over a length.

Seanís second success on Saturday came when stablemates Dark Song and Senescence ran 1-2 in a maiden plate (1160m) for fillies and mares. A 3yo daughter of the ill-fated Racing Post Trophy winner Kingsbarns, Dark Song was far too strong for her opponents and romped home to break her maiden by six lengths.

Ridden to victory on Saturday by Luke Ferraris, Dark Song races for her breeder Drakenstein Stud.

Luke and Sean once again teamed up successfully when Luke steered the Tarry trained Al Mutawakel to victory in Saturdayís sixth race, a progress plate over 1600 metres.

Owned and bred by Al Adaayit South Africa, the classy Al Mutawakel made it win number four, from just nine starts, when running on from off the pace to score by a length going away. A full-brother to the yardís G1 SA Derby winner Al Sahem, Al Mutawakel had finished third to stablemate Zillzaal in Novemberís G1 Gauteng Chris Gerber Summer Cup

Seanís final success on Saturday came when Luke Ferraris booted home Towards The Sun in the ninth and final race at Turffontein. Owned by Bernard Kantor and Chris Van Niekerk, the Klawervlei Stud bred filly made it three wins in a row when storming home to post a two length score over 1200 metres.

A daughter of Trippi, four-year-old Towards The Sun has done nothing wrong of late and hopefully she can build on her latest success.

Well done to all the winning connections, and the team back home who are doing a great job in truly challenging and alarming times.
