Arthur Impresses At Turffontein
The Tarry yard look to have promising two-year-old in the stable in the form of Legend Of Arthur. The latter, a colt by the much missed Lancaster Bomber, followed up a good third on debut with an impressive effort to win the second race at Turffontein as he liked.
Under the record chasing Richard Fourie, Legend Of Arthur drew clear in Saturday's Champions Day 6 April Maiden Juvenile Plate (1450m) to win by an emphatic five and a quarter lengths. The promising colt is owned by Bruce and Jo Gardner, Mark Currie, Mr Millar and Drakenstein Stud.
Bred by his part-owner Drakenstein Stud, the blue blooded Legend Of Arthur is a half-brother to former G1 SA Derby winner Hero's Honour and to G1 Thekwini Stakes runner up Railtrip. He looks capable of adding to his Galileo sired dam Grail Maiden's wonderful record.
The Tarry stable also claimed Saturday's fifth race with the useful Longsword. The latter made a positive impression when storming home to claim the TAB Telebet 0861 000 822 MR 70 Handicap (1200m) by more than three lengths, with Longsword appearing to have more in the tank. A horse with plenty of ability, three-year-old Longsword was one of three winners on Saturday for his jockey Richard Fourie.
Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Longsword races for Sean Tarry Racing (Pty) Ltd. As his name suggests, Longsword is a son of William Longsword, and his dam is the Tarry trained G3 Acacia Handicap winner Off The Mark.
