Silver Shines At Turffontein
After a frustrating afternoon at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Saturday, Sean and his team bounced back at Turffontein the following day, with the Tarry trained pair of Women Of Fame and Silver Hills both scoring on Sunday.
Last seen when fifth in April's G2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks, the Drakenstein Stud bred and owned Silver Hills caught the eye when running out a convincing winner of Sunday's Night Race Meeting 17 November Graduation Plate over 1400 metres.
One of three winners on Sunday for her late sire Silvano (also broodmare sire of two other winners at Turffontein on Sunday), Silver Hills stormed home, under replacement rider Calvin Habib, to claim her second win by half a length.
Bred to need considerably more ground (her dam is G1 SA Oaks winner Ash Cloud), Silver Hills is a lovely filly who looks to have a bright season ahead of her.
Sean had struck earlier on when his charge Women Of Fame claimed victory in the first race on the card.
Another partnered by Calvin Habib, three-year-old Women Of Fame put her head down where it mattered most to land the 4Racing Welcomes You Maiden Plate (F&M) by a short-head.
Bred by Hemel 'n Aarde Stud, Women Of Fame had shown promise as a two-year-old, and her win on Sunday was not out of turn.
