Tarry Team's Turffontein Double

The Sean Tarry Racing team has been in wonderful form of late, and the yard's great run continued on Thursday when Sean sent out Varvara and Jordan to win their respective races.

The first race on Thursday was a particular triumph for the Tarry yard, with Sean sending out Varvara to vanquish her stablemate Mountain High into second spot.

Trying the 1450m trip for a second time, two-year-old Varvara stormed home under Craig Zackey to win Thursday's 4Racing Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) by two lengths. It was a smart effort by Varvara, who was slowly away, and she also benefited from the use of a tongue-tie.

Bred by Oldlands Stud, the filly races for Kestorm Investments. A daughter of the late Var, Varvara is out of the Fusaichi Pegasus mare Feel My Love, a winner of six races, including both the Listed East Coast Handicap and Listed Queen Palm Handicap.

Her stablemate Jordan, an unlucky second last time out, accounted for a smart field when he won Thursday's Take A Bet Wina Numba Numba Progress Plate over 1800 metres. Racing four lengths off the pace early on, the Craig Zackey-ridden Jordan hit the front 300m from home and powered away to score by two and a half lengths.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift and Mauritzfontein, three-year-old Jordan races for Haraka Bloodstock (nom: J. Ambrose), G Ambrose, S Deodutt, MC Korsten, K Maher, S Pieters, C Spalding, DS & MJ Slade, K Govender, A&J Lahoud, L Pogir & G P Zurnamer. The classy Jordan, who was nominated for the G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July, is a Silvano three-parts brother to G3 Final Fling Stakes winner Platinum Class.
