Turffontein Double For Team Tarry
Sean sent out both Dantonfromsandton and The Africa House to win their respective races at Turffontein on Thursday.
A son of the Tarry-trained G1 SA Nursery/G2 Dingaans winner Willow Magic, two-year-old Dantonfromsandton was dropping down in class in Thursday's Highveld Champion 2-Year-Old Filly - Little Ballerina Juvenile Plate over 1000m, and he duly made the most of it.
Under a good ride from Piere Strydom, the Bush Hill Stud-bred colt stormed home to get up and beat Chocolate Soldier by half a length, while scoring for the second time in his career. Piere has built up a good relationship with Dantonfromsandton, having also guided the colt to his maiden victory. Dantonfromsandton races for D R & K A Lahoud, G Anthony, Y S Ebersey, J A J & D J Farah, A Lahoud, Jarryd Lahoud, Larry Pogir, R Polakow, Cliff Simaan, Craig Zoghby, and the Benoni Boys Syndicate.
Class three-year-old The Africa House has always shown plenty of ability, and he got back to winning ways when he landed Thursday's Highveld Champion Older Filly/Mare - Feather Boa Graduation Plate over 1400 metres. Given a well judged ride by Gavin Lerena, the gelding, who was weighted to win Thursday's race, came with a late run to score by three parts of a length. Bred by Drakenstein Stud, The Africa House is owned by Jarryd, Laurence and Tessa Warners. By What A Winter, The Africa House is out of the winning Trippi mare Rain In Africa, a full-sister to G3 Umzimkhulu Stakes winner One Fine Day.
