Mia Moo Shines In Sycamore Win
Sean Tarry Racing had a wonderful day at Turffontein on Saturday. Not only did the stable win the first two races on the card, but the Tarry-trained Mia Moo picked up a valuable black-type race when she won Saturday's G3 4Racing Sycamore Sprint.
A four-year-old daughter of Vercingetorix, Mia Moo had run a good race on her penultimate start when beaten less than a length in the G3 SplashOut Prix Du Cap, and she duly made a winning return to Gauteng on Saturday. Under a typically well-judged ride from Piere Strydom, the filly was always up with the speed, and, when asked the question, Mia Moo quickened up smartly to win the Sycamore Sprint convincingly by half a length.
Owned by World Sports Betting in partnership with Sandy and Eugene Arundel, Mia Moo was bred by Klawervlei.
The 2025 Sycamore Sprint winner is out of the stakes-winning Captain Al mare Leeward, whose full sister Gorgeous Al is the dam of classy gelding Pomodoro's Jet, another to win at Turffontein on Saturday.
The Tarry yard also looks to have a pair of well-above-average two-year-olds in the form of One Fine Winter and Tina Lovelace, who won the first and second races at Turffontein, respectively.
Runner-up on debut in the Listed TAB Storm Bird Stakes, the promising One Fine Winter showed her class when she romped home to claim Saturday's 4Racing Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (1100m) by over four and a quarter lengths.
Under Ryan Munger, the What A Winter filly pulled clear in the closing stages to win impressively, and she looks to have a bright future.
Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, One Fine Winter is out of the Trippi-sired G3 Umzikhulu Stakes winner One Fine Day.
Tina Lovelace, who finished just a length and a half behind One Fine Winter on debut, gave the yard a two-year-old double when victorious in Saturday's www.tab4racing.com Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1100m).
Another booted home by Ryan Munger, the daughter of Danon Platina kept finding to win a shade cosily by just over a length.
Bred by Ascot Stud, the Mario Ferreira-owned Tina Lovelace, who hails from the family of the Tarry-trained champion Succesful Bidder, is out of the Captain Al mare Linda Loves Lace.
