TARRY RACING'S TURFFONTEIN DOUBLE
Sean Tarry Racing celebrated a double at Monday's Turffontein meeting. The meeting had originally been scheduled for Saturday, but inclement weather had forced the change of date.
Blue-blooded colt One More Star saluted in Monday's second race for Sean and his team, with stablemate King Of Venus providing the yard with a second win when victorious in the tenth and final race at Turffontein.
Under inform Piere Strydom, three-year-old One More Star got off the mark at the fourth time of asking when he won Monday's Betway Maiden Plate (1600m) in taking fashion.
Despite still racing green, the Varsfontein Stud bred colt pulled out more in the closing stages when staying on to beat Pioneer Square by a long neck.
Owned by DJ Jazzy D Racing (Pty) Ltd in partnership with Mr Frank, One More Star looks to have the scope and breeding to build on Monday's win.
A son of the Captain Al sired champion One World, One More Star is a three-part brother to Captain Al's Triple Crown winning son Malmoos.
Sean Tarry Racing's second success on Monday came when the lightly raced King Of Venus won the tenth and final race at Turffontein.
Under Calvin Habib, the six-year-old son of Vercingetorix raced up with the pace in the Betway MR 80 Handicap (1000m), and dug down deep to hold off favourite Chieftain by a neck.
Calvin has built up a fine record with King Of Venus and has won three times aboard on him.
Bred by Klawervlei Stud, King Of Venus, a winner of three of his last five starts, is owned by Sean Tarry Racing (Pty) Ltd.
