Cape Glory For Princess Calla

Fresh off being named South Africa’s Horse Of The Year for 2022-2023, the Sean Tarry trained Princess Calla claimed more award glory when honoured at the Cape Breeders Awards, held at Kenilworth racecourse on Friday.

Not only was the superb daughter of Flower Alley crowned as the Cape bred Horse Of The Year for the past season, the four time G1 winner was also named the Cape’s Champion Older Female for the 2022-2023 season.

Bred by Maine Chance Farms, the Mario Ferreira owned Princess Calla enjoyed a tremendous season in 2022-2023, where Princess Calla claimed six graded races including the G1 HKJC Champions Cup.

She was not the only Tarry trained runner honoured on Friday night, with Sean’s charges Lucky Lad and Future Pearl named Champion 2YO Colt and Cape bred Stayer Of The Year respectively for the past season.
