Cosmic Is Too Speedy

The Tarry team unleashed a smart-looking two-year-old winner on Thursday when the well-bred Cosmic Speed won at Turffontein.

Making just his second start, Cosmic Speed, who had finished second behind subsequent G2 TAB SA Nursery winner Fire Attack on debut, was given a patient ride by record chasing Richard Fourie in Thursday's Racing Today Maiden Juvenile Plate (1200m).

Fourie settled his mount well off the speed early on before bringing Cosmic Speed with a strong run down the outside, which saw Cosmic Speed get up to win convincingly by two and a quarter lengths.

Described by his rider as a "lovely horse" in the post-race interview, Cosmic Speed races for Mrs. Hester Kuhn.

Sean feels Cosmic Speed may have needed Thursday's race and thinks the gelding is sure to come on from the win.

Bred by Maine Chance Farms, the two-year-old is a son of Querari and the Silvano mare Cosmic Dream, making Cosmic Speed a full-brother to the Kuhn-raced G2 The Debutante winner Cosmic Light.
