Mrs Browning Strikes For Carry On Alice

Sean and his team had to wait until the end of the day but the Tarry yard struck twice on Betway Summer Cup on Saturday, with Sean winning the last two races on the Turffontein card with Mrs Browning and Jet Dynasty respectively.

Mrs Browning's win in the G3 Joburg Tourism Carry On Alice Stakes was a particularly poignant win for the Tarry team, with Sean having trained the five-time G1 winning, and dual Equus Champion, Carry On Alice.

Under a positive ride from birthday boy Richard Fourie, four-year-old Mrs Browning was always up with the pace in Saturday's 1160m sprint for fillies and mares, and when asked the question, Mrs Browning quickened up nicely to win a shade cosily by a length and a quarter.

As a full-sister to G1 WSB SA Derby winner Aragosta, the Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein bred Mrs Browning will, no doubt, be a very exciting prospect when she retires to stud.

The daughter of Rafeef, who has now won four times for her owners Jarryd and Lawrence Wernars, Harry Wilson and the Hyperpaint Syndicate.

Sean struck again on Summer Cup day when his charge Jet Dynasty won the tenth and final race at Turffontein on Saturday. Owned by Sandy and Eugene Arundel, the blue-blooded four-year-old came from well off the pace, under a finely timed ride from Gavin Lerena, to win the South African Airways MR 84 Handicap (1800m) by three parts of a length.

The Drakenstein Stud bred gelding, now a three-time winner, is a son of Dynasty and the versatile G2 Gold Bracelet/G3 Poinsettia Stakes winner Jet Belle, which makes Jet Dynasty a half-brother to G1 Woolavington 2000 winner Silver Darling.
