Thunder Strikes At Kenilworth

Fresh off enjoying a double at Turffontein on Betway Summer Cup day, Sean and his team struck at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Sunday, when Sean sent out the high-class Thunderstruck to land The Bantry Bay Stakes over 1100 metres.

Winner of the 2022 G1 Gold Medallion, four-year-old Thunderstruck made light of making his debut at Kenilworth on Sunday when he won a good race.

Under Richard Fourie, the Rafeef colt was quickly away and always up with the pace in Sunday's sprint. Despite appearing beaten by Surjay close home, Thunderstruck showed plenty of heart when fighting back and going on to win by three parts of a length.

In the process, Thunderstruck set a new course record for 1100 metres at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.

It was a fine performance by Thunderstruck, who had to lug 62kgs on Sunday, and he was handled superbly by Richard.

Bred by Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm, Thunderstruck is owned by Wilgerbosdrift.

The now equine millionaire Thunderstruck is out of the Var-sired G2 Post Merchants winner Varikate.
