Troppo Veloce "Swallows" Rivals
Sean's charge Troppo Veloce enjoyed a change of luck on Saturday when she ran out a game-winner of the Listed Betway Swallow Stakes (1160m) at Turffontein.
The filly, who had lost a shoe and been bumped at the start last time out, picked up a well-deserved first black type with a courageous effort on Saturday.
Under a well-judged ride from S'Manga Khumalo, the three-year-old got up in the shadow of the post to claim the 2024 Swallow Stakes by a head.
Owned by Waste Glass Recovery (Pty) Ltd, Troppo Veloce has now won four of just nine starts and she looks unlikely to stop here.
Bred by the now defunct Piemonte Stud, Troppo Veloce is a daughter of Rafeef, with the latter also the sire of Sean's very smart performers Mrs Browning and Thunderstruck.
Troppo Veloce was one of three winners for the Tarry yard on Saturday, with Sean's former charges Willow Magic and Lance both supplying the team with one winner apiece.
Willow Magic's two-year-old son Dantonfromsandton got the Tarry yard off to a flyer on Saturday when he won the first race on the Turffontein card. Under Piere Strydom, the colt raced up with the pace in Saturday's 4Racing Welcomes You Juvenile Plate (1000m) before hitting the front and going on to score by half a length.
A close-up third on his only previous start, Dantonfromsandton races for Messrs Jarryd Lahoud, A Lahoud, D R & K A Lahoud, G G Anthony, Larry Pogir, R Polakow, Cliff Simaan and Craig Zoghby.
The colt was bred by Bush Hill Stud.
Lance gelding Silver Tudor defied top weight of 62kgs when he just got up to win the Racing 240 For Racing. For You MR84 Handicap (1160m) on Saturday. Under a perfectly judged ride from Serino Moodley, the four-year-old flew up late to put his head down where it mattered most and win by a head.
Bred by Summerhill Stud, Lance races for Lance Michael, who suffered a sad loss earlier with the passing of his brother-in-law George.
