2023-2024 WHAT A SEASON!

Sean Tarry Racing had a season to remember in the recently concluded 2023-2024 racing season. The stable ended the past season runner-up on the South African trainers premiership, with the yard's runners winning 89 races and amassing more than R19.439 million in stakes.

Among the feature races won by Sean's charges last season were the G1 City Of Cape Town Majorca Stakes, G1 Gold Medallion, G1 Golden Horse Sprint, G2 Durban Golden Horseshoe, G1 Jonsson Workwear Computaform Sprint, G2 Khaya Diadem Stakes, and G2 TAB Camellia Stakes.

Not for the first time, the Tarry yard had a wonderful day at Scottsville in June. Not only did the yard win both the G1 Gold Medallion and G1 Golden Horse Sprint, but Sean also saddled Rodeo Drive to finish second in the G1 Allan Robertson Championship and Mrs Browning to fill the runner-up berth in the G1 South African Fillies Sprint.

While Horse Of The Year Princess Calla left the stable to embark on an international campaign, the daughter of Flower Alley still made her mark in 2023-2024. The champion showed her class when romping home to a three and a quarter-length win in the 2024 G1 City Of Cape Town Majorca Stakes.

Top gallopers Thunderstruck and Lucky Lad also played a big role in the success that the Tarry Yard enjoyed in 2023-2024. The now-retired Thunderstruck won both the G1 Jonsson Workwear Computaform Sprint and the G2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes, while the brilliant Lucky Lad, winner of the 2023 G1 Gold Medallion, took out both the G1 Golden Horse Sprint and G2 Jehan Malherbe Senor Santa Stakes.

Yet another highlight for the stable last season was champion filly Mrs Geriatrix getting back to winning ways when landing the KwaZul-Natal Breeders Mile, while champion Cousin Casey ran second in all of the G2 Independent On Saturday Drill Hall Stakes, G1 Hollywoodbets Gold Challenge, G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July and G1 The HKJC Champions Cup.

One of the most exciting aspects of the Tarry Yard's success last season was the large number of exciting two-year-old winners. From the likes of Cosmic Speed and Proceed to Rodeo Drive, Sean and his team look to have a number of exciting young prospects for the coming season.

Sean would like to thank his loyal owners for their ongoing support and wish them all the best for the coming season. He would also like to thank his hard-working team, without whom none of this would be possible.
