Farewell Thunderstruck

Sean Tarry Racing bid farewell to their star sprinter, Thunderstruck. The son of Rafeef and grandson of Sean's former champion, National Colour, is set to arrive at Ridgemont, where he will stand his season this year.

Bred by Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm and raced by Mary Slack, Thunderstruck won two of three starts at two, including the G1 Gold Medallion. However, he enjoyed his most successful campaign as a four-year-old, with Thunderstruck winning both the G1 Jonsson Workwear Computaform Sprint and G2 Diadem Stakes this season. He also finished a close-up second in the G1 World Pool Cape Flying Championship this season.

Thunderstruck retires having won or finished in the money of 15 of 18 starts, with the top sprinter banking more than R2.5 million in prize money.

A son of Ridgemont's increasingly successful sire Rafeef, Thunderstruck is out of the Var sired G2 Post Merchants winner Varikate.

The yard wishes Thunderstruck all the best going to stud. If his foals are half as classy as he was, he looks sure to become a successful stallion!
