Litigation Goes Back To Back

Sean's charge Litigation made it back-to-back feature race wins when he won the G3 Betway London News Stakes (1800m) at Turffontein on Saturday. The gelded five-year-old had won the Listed Dr Richard Maponya Handicap last time out and defied 59kgs on Saturday to win another good race.

Under a good ride from Gavin Lerena (who has partnered Litigation to six of his eight career wins), Litigation was quickly away and went out to make the running in Saturday's R400 000 feature.

Litigation, a confirmed front-runner, kept going in the closing stages and went on to score impressively by two and a quarter lengths. Unfortunately, his well-fancied stablemate Bless My Stars, who was not suited by the slow pace, could only finish in fifth spot on Saturday.

Bred by Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm, Litigation races for Jarryd and Laurence Wernars, in partnership with Harry Willson and Pippa Mickleburgh.

Litigation, a son of Greys Inn and the Jet Master mare Jeter has now four black type wins to his name.

A tilt at the G2 Colorado King Stakes could be next up for the classy Litigation.

The Tarry yard also sent out the exciting two-year-old Proceed to score an eye-catching win in the first race at Turffontein on Saturday. Placed, behind two very smart two-year-olds, in his two previous starts, Proceed turned Saturday's 4Racing Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (1160m) into a procession with the Gavin Lerena partnered colt romping home to win by seven and a quarter lengths.

Bred by Laurence Wernars, who races him with Jarryd and Tessa Wernars, Proceed is likely to race next in the G2 Nursery later this season.

The colt, who is out of the Captain Al mare Xplosive Kiss, is very closely related to the Gimmethegreenlight sired triple graded stakes winner Second Base and he looks a very exciting prospect.
