RONDEBOSCH ROMPS HOME

Rondebosch

Sean Tarry Racing had a good day at Turffontein on Saturday, when the stable won the first two races on the card. Both of the stable's winners were ridden by Gavin Lerena.

The Tarry Yard's promising filly Predatrice made the perfect start to her career when winning on debut on Saturday.

Backed down to start tote favourite for Saturday's 4Racing Welcomes You Maiden Plate (F&M) (1000m), Predatrice duly lived up to expectations with a gutsy performance.

Under a well-judged ride, the three-year-old stayed on strongly down the inside of the track to win by just over half a length.

Bred by Laurence Wernars, Predatrice races for Messrs D C Basel, G A Basel, M Currie, A Lahoud, Jarryd Lahoud, Larry Pogir, G, K & M M Nassif.

Predatrice is a daughter of the ill-fated New Predator and the More Than Ready mare Tracy's Legacy. The latter is, in turn, a granddaughter of South African champion and multiple G1 winner Tracy's Element.

Blue-blooded colt Rondebosch stamped himself a horse to follow when romping home to an impressive maiden win on Saturday.

The Antony and Angela Beck owned gelding turned the Racing240 For Racing. For You Maiden Plate (1000m) into a one-horse race, with Rondebosch romping home to a four and a quarter length win.

Fourth and second on his only two previous starts, Rondebosch was bred by Lammerskraal Stud.

Saturday's winner lacks nothing in terms of pedigree, with Rondebosch, a son of multiple champion sire Gimmethegreenlight, and the Tarry-trained G1 Jonsson Workwear Garden Province Stakes winner Redberry Lane.

A big thanks goes out to all the winning connections, as well as to the team back home whose hard work continues to be rewarded.
